Comprehensive Brain Health Assessment & Consultation
A Comprehensive Assessment of Your Son’s Brain Health
This process is a comprehensive assessment of the biological, psychological, relational, and lifestyle factors that may be influencing your son’s brain health and daily functioning.
Through detailed conversations with parents and their son, targeted questionnaires, health and developmental history, clinical observation, and a review of relevant records, Kyle develops a whole-person picture of the young man—not simply a list of symptoms or diagnoses.
Kyle’s Clinical Elite Brain Health Certification through Amen University provides an additional framework for examining how sleep, nutrition, exercise, stress, attention, emotional health, relationships, technology use, substance use, medical history, and daily habits may be affecting the way your son thinks, feels, relates, and functions.
The goal is to identify both the factors that may be placing strain on his brain health and the strengths that can support healing, resilience, and healthier development.
What the Assessment Explores
A Brain Health Assessment looks beyond symptoms to consider the different factors that may be influencing how a young person thinks, feels, and functions.
Emotional & Psychological Health
Mood, anxiety, stress, emotional regulation, thought patterns, and other mental health concerns.
Attention & Executive Functioning
Focus, organization, impulsivity, motivation, follow-through, and decision-making.
Sleep & Energy
Sleep quality, sleep patterns, fatigue, recovery, and how rest may be affecting daily functioning.
Nutrition & Physical Health
Diet, hydration, movement, medical history, physical symptoms, and other factors that may influence brain and emotional health.
Medications & Substances
Current and past medications, supplements, caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, or other substances that may be relevant.
Technology & Digital Life
Gaming, social media, screen habits, online activity, and the role technology may be playing in mood, attention, relationships, and sleep.
Relationships & Family Dynamics
Family relationships, friendships, dating, communication patterns, conflict, connection, and social support.
Development & Life History
Developmental history, significant life experiences, school history, transitions, losses, trauma, and other factors that may have shaped current functioning.
Identity, Purpose & Environment
Values, confidence, belonging, faith or spirituality when relevant, school demands, athletics, responsibilities, and the broader environment surrounding the young person.
Brain Health & Function
When appropriate, information related to brain function and other biological factors is considered alongside the rest of the assessment—not in isolation.
Thoughtful, Thorough, Personalized
The Information Matters. So Does Understanding Your Son.
For more than a decade, Kyle Cruze, LMFT, has specialized in working with adolescent boys and their families. His experience includes residential treatment, private practice, parent support, and speaking to schools and community groups. Kyle understands the challenges young men face—and the importance of creating a space where they feel understood, respected, and able to speak honestly.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, Kyle approaches each young person within the larger context of his family, relationships, experiences, health, and environment. His Clinical Elite Brain Health Certification through Amen University adds another layer to this whole-person perspective, helping him consider how emotional health, brain health, physical well-being, and daily habits may be working together. The result is an approach that looks beyond isolated symptoms to better understand the complete story of your son.

Already Working With Me?
If we are already working together, a Brain Health Assessment would not mean starting over.
Our previous work may already provide a meaningful understanding of your history, current concerns, family dynamics, treatment experiences, strengths, and areas where progress has been difficult. The assessment builds on that foundation while stepping back from the normal rhythm of therapy to examine the larger picture more systematically.
This may include reviewing and organizing what we already know, exploring areas that have not yet received enough attention, incorporating relevant records or assessment measures, and considering factors such as sleep, physical health, medications, previous illness or injury, lifestyle, relationships, and prior treatment.
Unlike an ordinary therapy session, the assessment is a defined process that concludes with a written Brain Health and Treatment Roadmap containing individualized priorities and recommendations.
Because some of the foundational work may already have been completed, established clients may qualify for a more focused assessment process and an adjusted fee. The specific scope and cost are determined individually before the assessment begins.
If you are curious whether this process could add something meaningful to our current work, you are welcome to ask about it during an upcoming session.
